Dinner of Five Flags: First-Ever Fundraiser Dining Event for the CMA

The Castine Merchants Association & The Pentagoet Inn present the inaugural “Dinner of Five Flags: A Historic Dinner of our Town,” to benefit the CMA on Saturday, February 24, 5-7pm.

Explore Castine’s culinary history with this one-night-only 5-course prix fixe dinner fundraiser, hosted at the Pentagoet. Chefs La Mason & Matt Powell will compose the dinner, featuring the cuisines of the cultures that have lived on our peninsula through the centuries: the Wabanaki tribe, the French kingdom, the Dutch kingdom, the British Empire, and finally the Americans. It will be a feast for the senses as well as a step back into our history.

The 5-course Menu is as follows:

Wabanaki: Clam & 3 Sisters Fritters with Pickled Bean Relish

French: Split-Pea and Smoked Ham Hock Soup with Mushroom Compound Butter and Toast

Dutch: Endive, Celery, & Radicchio Salad with Smoked Trout, Pickled Radishes & Shallots, Caraway & Curry Vinaigrette

British: Beef Slow-cooked in Ale Served with Poached Carrots & Pearl Onions in Buttery Pastry

American: Red Wine “Washington Cake” with Mulled Cranberry Whipped Cream

Cost is $125pp, not inclusive of tax, gratuity, or beverage sales. Menu to be announced soon. All proceeds to benefit the Castine Merchants Association & its activities to support our town. Space is limited—call 207-326-8616 to RSVP.
