Most Photogenic Elms

Castine

Considered one of the finest stands of elms in New England, over 300 of these grand trees grace the village of Castine.  Townspeople have devoted local monies to developing a program to help their trees withstand the ravages of Dutch elm disease.  The trees are numbered in order to be cared for in such a way that these treasures will continue to provide shade for many generations of townsfolk.  They are just one aspect of the town's countenance that makes it eminently photographable; other highlights are the town's lovely common, excellent architecture, and its sheltered deep-water harbor.
