The cottage in our Coastal Maine bed and breakfast is set in the garden surrounded by tall trees. There are five rooms in the cottage and several of those are pet-friendly. Please call ahead so we can advise if these rooms at our Acadia lodging are
available.
The "cottage," as we affectionately call it, is a Federalist-style home
and considered more in keeping with the rest of Castine's architecture.
A Maine shipwright from Acadia built it in 1791 with all wooden
pegs and no nails, as was the custom of the day. The descendants of the
shipwright later built the Hotel Pentagoet in 1894 for the steamship
companies that brought overnight guests to the coast of Maine making
stops in Portland, Camden, Castine, Bar Harbor, and Acadia. |
